Database Design

Database related issues plague virtually every business, company and organization working in the world today. Many people do not fully understand how much a good database design can help the efficiency of daily tasks, not to mention organize and streamline work.

We can help you get organized, by using databases to organise your information into a easily accessed format, with unlimited growth potential.

There are a few things to think about when deciding if you require an information database for your business.

How & Where to Begin

The first step is to recognise what data sets your business needs and how they relate to the issues you are working on. Doing this can be time consuming and frustrating, since there is such a large amount of data out there. We provide an on-site data analysis for you to help decide what information is critical to you. Once you've got all the data you need, you are faced with the reality of organizing and maintaining it.

We have an excellent grasp on how to design systems so that they are easy to maintain and are user friendly. This, accompanied with a good library of data, can make all the difference when dealing with customers .

We begin the development phase by defining a more detailed project plan, including deliverables, schedule, cost, resources, and personnel (including programmers, managers, graphic designers, writers, etc.)

When we begin development, we create prototypes and pilots of the database to show you and gather your input. We will also show you mock-ups of the user interface. After the database is complete, we can help you move it into a trial period of use either on  your server or remotely from our server.

Once the database is functional, staff will be available to answer follow-up questions and help address post-production problems. Database Services can also provide user-friendly instructions on maintenance of the various sections, procedures for updating the database, and any other necessary documentation. We can help determine the best tools to facilitate ongoing maintenance of the site and provide assistance in acquiring, installing, and using the tools.

Cost

Each business has unique requirements when it comes to the data required, thus, after an obligation free on-site visit to gage your requirements, we provide you with a detailed quote outlining all of the costs involved. If the actual amount is less than the estimate, you will be billed for only the time spent.

The actual cost of a project could be less than or more than the estimate. More time could be required if the scope or complexity changes. If we are approaching the estimated cost, and it is clear that additional time will be required, we will notify you of the situation, so that we can discuss alternative approaches.
